Tamar Aroshidze from Nasakirali

First steps

I am Tamar Aroshidze, I live in the village of Nasakirali, Ozurgeti Municipality. I always had ideas about my activities, but there was no opportunity to implement those ideas. Then Taso Foundation came to our village.

At first a very funny thing happened to us when the information was misreported, as if whatever we wrote, this fund would give us everything. We were amazed at how we would be given what we would write, so that we would have done nothing. However, when a meeting with the foundation members took place and we learned that a lot of hard work and study lay ahead, only five women remained in the group. I even became a community worker for this group.

I got back to an active life for the first time after getting married. I had women of different ages in the group and I always had to think about how to get them interested in the topics I had prepared. The foundation helped me a lot with the necessary and interesting resources. By the way, then COVID-19 was just starting out when we started training. All closed, and we, on the contrary, started a new life, we almost never got bored and lived a very active life. I will also say that the members of my group are exiled Meskhetians and most of them had a language barrier. I constantly had to translate materials and trainings for them, but it did not bother me because I was so motivated. This aroused their desire to study the Georgian language and they even started learning. The hitherto alienated are now more integrated, moving out of their homes.

With the education received under the project, four out of five women received funding for projects tailored to our ideas and interests. My project was about a greenhouse. At first I wanted to grow seedlings, but then I thought about it and realized that vegetables grown in a greenhouse could bring in more revenue. Already today, when I have entered the market, I have my own customers, but I constantly feel the need to expand my business because the market demand is far beyond my capabilities.

Changes

Participating in this project has changed a lot in me. I have never before had the experience of working as a community worker, nor the experience of working with a group and, moreover, of leading. I learned to work with a group and connect group members with each other.

First of all, Taso Foundation showed us that one should always be eager to get an education. It does not have to be your profession. Education and development help you feel civilized and you have to constantly strive for it.

We also learned that active work and showing initiative are crucial to the well-being of the community. I am very grateful to Mrs. Marina Tabukashvili for all this.

I remember when we first arrived in Tbilisi, in the office of Taso Foundation, we had such a greeting there that this meeting became the main force, which made us decide to follow the project to the end. We were invited to cooperate in a very warm and correct way. And for all this, I would like to thank each member of Taso Foundation team.
