Bergliot Hovland's Visit to Guria
On September 18, within the framework of the "Women's Economic Empowerment Project", the women's self-help group formed in the villages of Kvenobani and Buknari, Chokhatauri district, hosted Kaori Ishikawa, the representative of the United Nations Women's Organization in Georgia, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to Georgia - Bergliot Hovland, the representative of the Danish Ambassador, Ane Toft Sorensen - Medea Gegechkori, and ProCredit Bank Director - Zeinab Lomashvili.
The guests learned from rural women about the benefits of being involved in the project and the needs at the local level, which they are working together to address. At the end of the meeting, they viewed traditional handicrafts and tasted local dishes.
The Women's Economic Empowerment component is part of the Good Governance for Gender Equality project (Phase II) implemented by UN Women together with its partner organizations with funding from the Government of Norway.
